BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — New details have emerged in a case involving a Kern County Superintendent of Schools employee accused of sex crimes involving a minor after investigators say a video found on a student’s phone led police to the suspect.
According to court documents, the investigation began after Bakersfield police were alerted to a video found on a student’s phone. Detectives said the video showed a 14-year-old student FaceTiming the suspect, identified as Adolfo Escudero-Mendoza.

Investigators later interviewed the teen, who told police the suspect frequently contacted students by phone and social media, and that conversations often became inappropriate, court documents said.
Court documents also allege Escudero-Mendoza paid the student for explicit images and videos. Authorities said the suspect admitted to sending $200 to the victim starting in September 2025, when the student was 13.
