Incredibly, Fernando Tatis Jr. does not have a home run, even after playing five straight games in the elevation at Coors Field and in Mexico City last month.
Maybe he’ll do better at a familiar park at sea level.
A day after a day out of the lineup, Tatis is back in right field and in the two-hole to start a three-game series at Oracle Park.

The Giants’ home park favors pitchers as it ranks 21st in Statcast’s park factors over the last three years, but Tatis has always found in a favorable environment.
His 10 home runs at Oracle Park are his second most on the road, behind Dodger Stadium. He is also a .302/.365/.543 hitter in 41 games played in San Francisco.
Tatis is hitting .261/.333/.311 with five extra-base hits—four doubles and a triple—in 32 games this year. He has 13 RBIs and is 9-for-11 in stolen base attempts.
Tatis batting second and playing right field means the rest of the lineup is without surprises.
Gavin Sheets (.727 OPS) will play first base, Miguel Andujar (.843 OPS) will serve as the DH and Freddy Fermin (.537 OPS) will be behind the plate.
As for the Giants (13-21), losers of six in a row, call-ups Bryce Eldridge and Jesus Rodriguez are in the lineup immediately to start the three-game series.

Monday’s pitching matchup
Padres RHP Randy Vásquez (3-0, 2.94 ERA)
The Padres have won all six of his starts so far, although Vásquez allowed five runs in five innings in a win in his last start against the Cubs. Vaquez has a 34-to-11 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 33⅔ innings. This is Vásquez’s first career appearance against the Giants.

The 25-year-old has a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings since debuting in 2024. That includes two starts last September (13 IP, 1 ER). McDonald had a 5.40 ERA in 15 innings to start the year at Triple-A Sacramento. This is McDonald’s first appearance against the Padres.
McDonald hasn’t faced any Padres in the majors.
