When life threw challenges their way, an East Bay family came together with a purpose by selling cactus paddles to help their son stay and attend San Jose State University.
Selling the cactus paddles, also known as “nopales,” gets student Braulio one step closer to his goal after his family’s life took an unexpected turn.
“It’s been a little rough with immigration laws and the changes within the government,” Braulio said. “So the work has been down a little bit and this is a way for us to gather money, and to be able to afford my college tuition.”
