California honors fallen officers in statewide memorial ceremony
IT CALLED CALIFORNIA’S INSURANCE MARKET THE MOST DYSFUNCTIONAL IN THE NATION. WELL, LAW ENFORCEMENT IS HONORING THE LIVES OF FALLEN OFFICERS FROM ACROSS THE STATE. THE CALIFORNIA PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION HONORED MORE THAN A DOZEN WHO LOST THEIR LIVES LAST YEAR. AND THOSE OFFICERS COME FROM TEN DIFFERENT AGENCIES. AMONG THOSE RECOGNIZED FOR HIS SACRIFICE WAS OFFICER OSMAR RODARTE, WITH THE MARYSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT. HUNDREDS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TOOK PART IN THE MEMORIAL THIS MORNING. THE CEREMONY INCLUDED A WALK OF HONOR FOR SURVIVING FAMILY MEMBERS. THEY WERE ESCORTED FROM THE CAPITOL TO THE MONUMENT. GOVERNOR GAVIN NEWSOM AND ATTORNEY GENERAL ROB BONTA WERE ON HAND AMONG STATE LEADERS. THERE AS PEACE OFFICERS. THESE 13 PROUDLY WORE THE BADGE AND STEPPED INTO THEIR COMMUNITIES EACH DAY WITH A SINGULAR PURPOSE TO PROTECT AND SERVE. NOT FOR GLORY, NOT FOR RECOGNITION, NOT FOR FAME, BUT BECAUSE THEY WERE CALLED TO SOMETHING GREATER THAN THEMSELVES TO MAKE OUR COMMUNITIES SAFER AND OUR STATE STRONGER. FOR THAT. CALIFORNIA WILL ALWAYS BE IN THEIR DEBT.
