BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly pulled a person over while pretending to be a police officer, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

At around 8:45 a.m. on May 3, Bakersfield police officers responded to the 200 block of South Union Avenue.

According to the caller, they were pulled over by a person driving a black SUV with flashing red and blue interior lights, police said. The victim thought the vehicle was suspicious and called 911.

Officers used video evidence to identify the suspect as Nicholas Leyva, 40.

The black GM Yukon Leyva was allegedly driving was in the area of 4th and V streets with red and blue aftermarket lights in the vehicle, according to officials.

Leyva was booked into the Lerdo Detention Facility on suspicion of impersonating an officer and false imprisonment, BPD said.

The victim was not injured and didn’t make physical contact with Leyva.
