A man was taken into custody after breaking into a home in Beverlywood and getting away with jewelry.
The Los Angeles Police Department tells NBC4 Investigates that the man did not make it very far and was found nearby in a neighbor’s backyard.
The man was taken into custody around 11:30 p.m. Monday night in a neighborhood off Pico Boulevard.
The residents were home at the time of the break-in and went into a bedroom where they called 911.
The LAPD tells NBC4 Investigates that the intruder forced his way into the home through a door. and may have left through a window that was seen pried open.
He was later found down the street in a neighbor’s backyard.
The investigation continues, but officers believe the intruder may have acted alone. However, they are not ruling out the involvement of a second person.
The residents who were home at the time of the break in were not hurt and said to be safe.
Police were patrolling the area around 4 a.m.
