(FOX40.COM) — A suspect was detained Monday night after fleeing from officers and barricading himself in a home, the Sacramento Police Department said.
SPD said officers detained the man around 5 p.m. after an hours-long standoff that began at 11:30 a.m. in the area of 5th Street and Seavey Circle.
Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the man led officers on a pursuit, before he went into the home.
According to officers, the suspect was left with self-inflicted injuries and was taken to the hospital.
SWAT and crisis negotiators were outside the home for several hours attempting to persuade the possibly armed man to surrender, police said.
His identity has not been released.
