SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Barracuda (1-0-0-0) defeated the Bakersfield Condors (0-1-0-0) 7–6 on Saturday afternoon, at the Tech CU Arena, to open the 2025–26 AHL season.

Rem Pitlick (1) opened the scoring for Bakersfield at 0:39, assisted by Viljami Marjala (1) and Roby Järventie (1). San Jose answered at 7:15 when Filip Bystedt (1) scored, assisted by Cam Lund (1) and Igor Chernyshov (1). Zack Ostapchuk (1) gave the Barracuda the lead at 11:43 with assists from Jake Furlong (1) and Ethan Cardwell (1). Bakersfield tied it at 14:47 as Seth Griffith (1) scored on the power play, assisted by Max Jones (1) and Marjala (2), then reclaimed the lead at 15:06 when Riley Stillman (1) found the net from Pitlick (1) and Järventie (2). Patrick Giles (1) evened the game 3–3 at 19:47 with an assist from Jimmy Huntington (1).

In the second period, Quentin Musty (1) scored a power-play goal at 3:10, assisted by Chernyshov (2) and Lund (2). Luca Cagnoni (1) added another power-play marker at 7:16, assisted by Lund (3) and Musty (1). Huntington (1) made it 6–3 at 12:16, assisted by Giles (1). Bakersfield cut into the lead when Max Jones (1) scored at 16:06, assisted by Luke Prokop (1) and Aatu Samanski (1), followed by Järventie (1) at 18:11 from Pitlick (2).

In the third, Ethan Cardwell (1) added a power-play goal at 1:42, assisted by Mattias Hävelid (1) and Bystedt (1). Rhett Pitlick (1) scored his first professional goal shorthanded at 8:25, assisted by Marjala (3) and Cam Dineen (1).

San Jose went 3-for-8 on the power play, while Bakersfield finished 1-for-2. Goaltender Jakub Škarek made 27 saves for San Jose, and Matt Tomkins stopped 29 for Bakersfield.
