Vegas trumps Anaheim in game 1 of round 2

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (WLAX/WEUX) – Ivan Barbashev scored the go ahead goal midway through the third period to lift the Vegas Golden Knights to a 3 to 1 win over the Anaheim Ducks in Game 1 of their Western Conference second round series Monday night.

The play developed after Jack Eichel beat out an icing call, creating a turnover along the boards. Pavel Dorofeyev gathered the puck and cut through defenders before setting up Barbashev for a tap in at the left post.

Vegas regained control shortly after Anaheim tied the game in the third period. Mikael Granlund scored off a rebound to make it 1 to 1, but Barbashev answered just over a minute later to put the Golden Knights back in front.

Brett Howden opened the scoring earlier in the second period, finishing a pass from Mitch Marner for his fourth straight game with a goal. Marner later added an empty net goal in the final seconds to seal the win.

Carter Hart made 33 saves for Vegas, while Lukas Dostal stopped 19 shots for Anaheim.

With the win, the Golden Knights take a 1 to 0 lead in the best of seven series. Game 2 is set for Wednesday night in Las Vegas.
