SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Cinco de Mayo has arrived, which means time to eat, drink and be merry in celebration of the Mexican Army’s victory over the French in Puebla, Mexico, in 1862.

How to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in San Diego, from tacos to Chihuahua beauty pageants

San Diego, a city known for its Mexican food (some may even say it has the best in the state), has plenty of Cinco de Mayo deals so that you can indulge in all of the food and drink offerings that Mexican cuisine has to offer.

The holiday also happens to land on Taco Tuesday this year, meaning even more opportunity to get more bang for your buck.

Blind Burro

The Blind Burro in the Gaslamp Quarter will have limited-time Cinco de Mayo specials, including a $9 Gran Malo spicy tamarindo tequila shot and a $15 chipotle tamarind margarita.

The sports bar also has a Taco Tuesday special, with $6 tacos from 6 p.m. to close. Some of the offerings include cilantro lime grilled shrimp and al pastor.

Barleymash

Barleymash, also in the Gaslamp District, is offering $15 drink specials, $17 enchiladas and an $18 surf and turf quesadilla. There will be giveaways throughout the day.

Cocina de Barrio

Cocina de Barrio has four locations in San Diego: Point Loma, Hillcrest, North Park and Encinitas.

All of them will have $5 margaritas, $5 bottled beers, and three locations will have a live DJ from 4 to 9 p.m.

City Tacos

A San Diego staple, City Tacos is going to have plenty of ways to indulge in their delicious tacos and drinks since the holiday not only coincides with Taco Tuesday, but the restaurant’s 12th anniversary as well.

City Tacos is rolling its anniversary and Cinco de Mayo all into one, which means a $12 special that includes any two tacos and a drink, a chance to win coupons with every purchase and giveaways.

Maverick’s Beach Club

If waking up early on Wednesday isn’t in your plans, then you can head to Maverick’s Beach Club in Pacific Beach for some Cinco de Mayo drink specials.

The bar will be serving a $12 beer and shot deal, $10 margarita, $7 Mexican candy shot and $15 Cadillac margarita all day long.

Hasta Mañana Cantina

If you feel like you could never eat enough tacos, Hasta Mañana Cantina in the Gaslamp Quarter has you covered.

The bar and restaurant has a $22 all-you-can-eat tacos special as well as a $5 margarita and discounted tequila shots.

Rockin’ Baja Lobster

The Baja seafood restaurant in Old Town will have a special Cinco de Mayo bucket deal. The $109 deal is meant for two people and comes with lobster tails, snow crab, carne asada, grilled chicken and Baja-style shrimp. It also comes with soups or salads and a dessert.

The restaurant is also offering drink specials, like $7 beers.

Puesto

Puesto is offering half off tacos on Cinco de Mayo. Some of the award-winning tacos include carnitas, chicken al pastor and short rib quesabirria.

The Beverly

The rooftop bar and restaurant in Pacific Beach will have a la carte tacos, $5 margaritas, $4 Mexican drafts and $10 nachos all day on Cinco de Mayo. The rooftop views also make it the perfect place to catch a San Diego sunset.

Sayulitas Mexican Food

The casual Mexican dining spot Sayulitas Mexican Food will have $6.99 carne asada fries all day long at its six San Diego locations.

The Mexican-Filipino fusion spot will also have other specials, like all-you-can-eat tacos for $9.99 at its Mira Mesa location. The location is also hosting a challenge where whoever can devour a giant burrito will take home a prize.

Fridas Taqueria

Frida’s Taqueria, which has several locations throughout San Diego, is offering $1.99 tacos all day on Cinco de Mayo.

The menu of Tijuana-style tacos includes all the classic taco filling options like asada, adobada and pollo asado, as well as soyrizo and chicarron.
