A 44-year-old man accused of hanging out of a window of a west San Fernando Valley home, exposing himself and yelling racial slurs has been arrested, the LAPD tells NBC4 Investigates.
Officers responded Tuesday night to the 7700 block of Garden Grove Avenue for a disturbance report. The suspect, later identified as 44-year-old Greagory William, was in his window threatening people as he exposed himself and yelled racial insults, police said.
Williams was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal threat. He was being held on $75,000 bond.
Residents previously expressed fear and frustration over their neighbor.
“He just starts screaming sometimes. Any given day, he’ll just decide to lean out his window, start screaming for a few hours. It’ll go on into the middle of the night,” said one woman who asked not to be identified out of fear for her safety. “I hear him sometimes at 2 in the morning, 3 in the morning, and it just doesn’t stop until the next morning.”
According to residents, police have been called about 150 times regarding the man but officers have said there is little they can do. City Councilmember Nithya Raman, whose district includes Reseda, said she is aware of the man and his actions.
“Our office has just been made aware of the situation, and we are actively looking into it,” a statement by Raman read. “Every resident deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood, and we take these concerns seriously. It is also clear that the individual at the center of this situation is in need of serious support and services. We will be in contact with the relevant city departments to ensure this matter receives the attention it warrants, and we will be reaching out to the residents involved and working to identify the appropriate next steps.”
