A driver accused of killing a 19-year-old woman in Long Beach was arrested in connection with the case.
The deadly crash occurred on Nov. 2, 2025, at a parking lot on the 2200 block of Bellflower just before 4 p.m., the Long Beach Police Department said.
The victim, Grace Edwards, 19, of Long Beach, was walking through the lot with her mother when a driver pulling out of a parking spot ran over her.
Officers arriving at the scene found the woman with severe injuries to her upper body. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition and died three days later.

The driver, Desean Edwards, 40, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
“Distracted driving is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision,” police said at the time.
Following an investigation, on May 6, 2026, police confirmed the man was arrested and booked for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. Bail was set at $75,000. His booking photo was not released.
The organizer of a GoFundMe created for the victim’s family wrote, “Grace was a vibrant and carefree 19-year-old girl. She was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, friend, and nursing student. She touched the lives of so many, including young families, as she cared for many children at her church and in her community.”
Loved ones said that the 19-year-old victim was an organ donor and that her heart was donated to an 8-year-old child.
“We are comforted by the fact that her legacy is going to live on and bring life to others,” the organizer wrote.
