The southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Pacific Beach were closed as crews tried to clear a wreck involving an overturned big rig Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 4:40 a.m. Thursday on I-5 near Mission Bay Drive just north of Balboa Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP stated a semi flipped on its right side with active hazard lights.
Tow crews were called to assist officers in removing the truck, which reportedly blocked at least three lanes, Caltrans stated.
Drivers were detoured to state Route 52 as of 9:30 a.m., according to the CHP.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. The circumstances surrounding the crash were unclear, and the CHP was investigating.
No injuries were immediately reported.
