NEVADA COUNTY, California (KOLO) – The California Fire Safe Council is distancing itself from the Fire Safe Council of Nevada County after an indictment charged its executives with fraud and embezzlement.
A grand jury in Nevada County returned the indictment against the executives on April 30.
In a statement to KOLO 8 News Now, the organization says they are a separate, independently governed organization that has its own board, leadership and operations. They say it is not a chapter or a subsidiary, nor is it a governed entity of the California Fire Safe Council and that those indicted have no connection with CFSC.
