The 15-day streak of increases that boosted the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County to its highest amount since Oct. 2, 2023, ended Thursday with a decrease of four- tenths of a cent to $6.209.
The average price rose 36.1 cents during the streak, including 3.6 cents Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The streak of increases followed a 13-day streak of decreases totaling 11.7 cents.
The average price is 14.5 cents more than one week ago, 24.8 cents higher than one month ago and $1.472 above what it was one year ago. It has risen $1.523 since the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran Feb. 28, moving within 22.6 cents of the record $6.435 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price rose to its highest amount since July 16, 2022, increasing 2.2 cents to $4.558. It has risen 15 consecutive days, increasing 54.8 cents, including 5.3 cents Wednesday.
The national average price is 25.8 cents more than one week ago, 41.8 cents higher than one month ago and $1.404 above what it was one year ago. It has risen $1.576 since the attack on Iran, moving within 45.8 cents of the record $5.016 set June 14, 2022.
