Jase Bowen hit his Padres system-best eighth homer, JP Sears turned in his best start yet and David Morgan saved his first game of the season in Triple-A El Paso’s 4-1 win over visiting Tacoma on Thursday.

Bowen, the center fielder, went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a walk, his second steal and two runs scored. He is hitting .274/.331/.581 with 19 RBIs and two steals in 29 games.

El Paso’s only other extra-base hit in the game was a triple from right fielder Nick Schnell (.878 OPS).

Sears (3-1, 5.91 ERA) struck out a season-high eight batters while allowing an unearned run on two hits and two walks in five innings.

Right-hander Garrett Hawkins (5.93 ERA) struck out three over two shutout innings and right-hander Logan Gillaspie (4.91 ERA) turned in a scoreless eighth.

Morgan (4.50 ERA) struck out a batter in a perfect ninth in his first save since his demotion from San Diego.

El Paso is 18-18.

CF Kasen Wells (.662 OPS) went 2-for-3 with a walk and two steals. RHP Carson Montgomery (1.64 ERA) struck out five over five shutout innings in the start. RHP Clay Edmondson (0.69 ERA) earned his sixth save with a scoreless ninth.

 

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (17-13)

Inland Empire 4, Storm 1: RHP Bryan Balzer (3-1, 3.54 ERA) struck out five but allowed two runs on four hits and two walks in six innings in the loss. CF Ryan Wideman (.890 OPS) went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and his 19th steal. DH Luke Cantwell (.949 OPS) went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

 

ROOKIE ACL PADRES (2-2)

Padres 5, Brewers 2 (7): RHP Jhony Brito (3.00 ERA) began a rehab assignment with seven strikeouts over three innings of one run ball. Brito missed all of 2025 after elbow surgery. LHP Zack Qin (1-0, 0.00 ERA) struck out four over three shutout innings for the win. C Ty Harvey (hamstring) continued his rehab assignment with a three-hit day that included a double, an RBI and a run scored.
