California’s Oakland Zoo debuted its new baby southern pudu and asked social media users for their help in naming the youngster on Thursday, May 7.
Recently released footage by the Oakland Zoo shows a southern pudu named Riley licking her “sweet, healthy baby boy” this week.
“Meet our a‑DEER‑able newest addition!” the zoo wrote on X.
The Oakland Zoo also asked social media users for their help in naming the fawn in the comments, with users suggesting options like “Maximo,” “Vince,” and “Chico.”
The zoo said southern pudus are the second smallest deer in the world, reaching between 24 and 29 inches tall and 33 inches long, according to their website. Credit: Oakland Zoo via Storyful
