SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The woman was initially contacted by San Diego police officers who believed the Lexus she was driving was stolen.
When officers approached the woman near Tecolote Canyon, the woman behind the wheel of this Silver Lexus bolted, leading police on an hours-long chase winding through the county of San Diego.
From the I-5 to the SR-52 to the I-805, the silver Lexus was scrambling to put distance between herself and the following black and whites turning on to side streets leading into Fair Banks Ranch.
Officers say the woman led the chase to Derby Farm Road, where officers dropped spike strips.

“Two officers moved away from the sidewalk and onto the embankment behind me, and the vehicle avoided the spike strips and accelerated towards the officers,” said LT. Juan Marquez
Investigators say one of the officers feared for their life.
“One officer shot one round at the vehicle, striking the windshield,” said Lt. Marquez.
The driver then led police on another pursuit, with the woman making it all the way to Poway before crashing the alleged stolen car and being taken into custody. Officers were taking their time to detain the woman, making sure she didn’t have a weapon.
“Thankfully, nobody’s injured, no injuries to the officers and no injuries to the suspect,” said Lt. Marquez.
The suspect is being booked on assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, car theft and felony evading.
