American Legion San Dieguito Post 416 will host the community’s annual Memorial Day Observance on Monday, May 25, bringing together veterans, families, civic leaders, and local youth organizations for a solemn tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.at American Legion Post 416, 210 West F Street, Encinitas.
This year’s theme, “Remembering a Century of Service,” reflects both the legacy of Post 416—founded in 1932—and the generations of Americans who have answered the nation’s call over the past hundred years. The ceremony will highlight stories of service and sacrifice across eras, branches, and backgrounds, honoring not only those who fell in battle but also the families and communities who carried their memory forward, a news release stated.
In keeping with Encinitas’ long tradition of unity and respect, the observance will feature multi‑faith participation, including prayers and reflections offered by local faith leaders representing diverse traditions. Their presence underscores the shared values of remembrance, gratitude, and community that transcend individual beliefs, the news release stated.
The program will also include:
•Presentation of Colors by local Scout organizations
•Patriotic music performed by area students
•A community pledge led by youth representatives
•A moment of silence and ceremonial honors for the fallen
•Remarks from Post leadership and invited guests
“Memorial Day is a moment when our entire community stands together,” said leaders of Post 416 in the news release. “This year, as we reflect on a century of service, we honor every generation that has worn the uniform and every family that has borne the weight of sacrifice.”
