The Alliance of Asian Pacific Americans of San Dieguito (AAPASD) hosted a vibrant Staff Appreciation Luncheon on April 24 at Canyon Crest Academy (CCA). Held in “The Nest” lounge, the event served as a sincere tribute to more than 120 teachers and staff members who support the CCA student body, according to a news release.
The luncheon was a true community effort. Thanks to the generosity of parent donors and a dedicated team of volunteers, The Nest was transformed with festive balloons and fresh floral arrangements, creating an inviting atmosphere for the hardworking staff.
The menu featured a diverse array of selections, ranging from fresh sandwiches and burgers from popular local restaurants to seasonal fruit and desserts. A standout highlight was the authentic, homemade Chinese cuisine prepared and contributed by parents. To ensure a seamless experience for educators during their busy midday break, parent volunteers worked ahead of schedule to professionally plate and portion the meals for easy access, the news release stated.
CCA Principal Brett Killeen and Assistant Principals Garry Thornton and Kathryn Freeman joined the festivities, offering their recognition and support for the event’s success. “The staff truly appreciated the thoughtful, abundant food and the kindness of the volunteers,” noted the event organizers in the news release.
The news release stated that “AAPASD extends a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers and parents who contributed their time and resources to make this event a memorable and relaxing break for our dedicated educators.”
