Nadine Schick, Del Mar Union School District’s director of special education, was recently named the 2025-2026 Special Education Administrator of the Year by the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE). NCCSE represents a partnership of 14 school districts in North County San Diego working to ensure every student gets the support and opportunities they need to learn and grow.
According to a district press release, Schick was honored for her commitment to students and her leadership in strengthening special education programs throughout Del Mar Union School District (DMUSD).
“Nadine’s ‘due north’ has always been our students,” said Leslie Montoro, executive director of student services in the press release. “She leads with integrity, vision, and courage, always doing what is right to ensure an outstanding learning experience for all students in special education. Her impact on our district and the student experience has been profound.”
Schick has over 25 years of experience in special education and has been with the district since 2017. According to the press release, Schick has helped guide DMUSD as it reimagines inclusive practices and enhances the educational experiences for students with diverse learning needs.
She will officially receive her honor at the Excellence in Special Education Awards on May 19 at the North County Regional Education Center in San Marcos.
