Associated Students has increased next year’s Campus Union Fee by $55 per semester, in accordance with the ASI Student Wellness Initiative established in March 2025.
Starting fall 2026, students will pay $279.25 in total campus union fees that semester.
During the 2026-2027 academic year, the fee increase will support additional club funding, expanded wellness programming and workshops, continued funding for additional Counseling and Psychological Services counselors and Peer Health Ambassadors, expanded ASI student programs and collaborations, and scholarships.
The increased fee will also create updated wellness courses and services, begin the centralization of Basic Needs Services, and develop the feasibility study of the design planning for the Student Recreation Center, Titan Student Union and Wellness Center.
According to ASI Director of Organizational Communications and Outreach Christina Cardenas, a new Wellness Suite will open at the TSU next year. The new space will give students a place to relieve stress and relax.
The SRC and TSU constructions are estimated to be completed by the 2030-2031 academic year, with the new Wellness Center open and the centralized Basic Needs completed.
“I think our goal is to make wellness something so ingrained in the DNA of this campus that everybody just expects it, but you got to start somewhere,” Cardenas said.
For spring 2026, students paid $216.46 for the Campus Union Fee. By 2028, the total campus union fee will be $536 per semester.
The Campus Union Fee funds programs, staffing, maintenance, and operations for the TSU and SRC. ASI is responsible for staffing and operating expenses for these facilities, debt service, building improvements and repairs.
The 2025-2026 fee increase funded a new fall concert, an additional $105,000 towards student scholarships, increased funding for student clubs and organizations, and more campus programs and events.
ASI initially passed the Wellness Initiative to bring “a holistic approach to well-being that recognizes the interconnected aspects of health and personal growth” to campus.
In a 2025 CSUF survey with 2487 responses, 20% of students reported having depression and 23% having anxiety.
The SRC had 17,352 unique students using the facility and 419,120 visits during the 2024-2025 academic year.
Financial aid can be used to cover the fee increase and will be adjusted according to individual applicant eligibility.
About 75% of CSUF students receive financial aid. Approximately 40% of students receive Middle Class Scholarships that may be used toward fee payments.
CSUF has the largest enrollment in the CSU system and ranks 17th in total mandatory fees.
Across the CSU system, Union and Student Center fees range between $121 to $460 per semester as of the 2024-2025 academic year.
“We’re being as transparent as possible, and we’re investing in the future,” Cardenas said.
The fee will increase by $106 per semester in 2027-2028, and in 2028-2029 it will increase by an additional $164.
