Four people were stabbed in Oceanside early Monday, including one who was critically injured, police said.
Officers were called to an area near the intersection of Cassidy and Pacific streets, near stairs that lead down to the beach, shortly after 2:35 a.m. That’s where they found four victims suffering from stab wounds, said police spokesperson Gina Avalos.
All four were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, Avalos said.
Police said witnesses saw the assailant leave in a vehicle and provided the vehicle’s description to dispatchers.
Officers immediately began searching for the vehicle and located it about 6 miles away, on Fredricks Avenue near Coconut Way, about a half hour later. Two knives were recovered and one person was arrested.
“We are still trying to gather more details, such as a motive, but it’s possible the suspect knew at least one of the victims,” Avalos said.
No other information was immediately available.
