LOS ANGELES — A Beverly Hills man was sentenced Wednesday to 146 years to life in prison related to 14 years of what prosecutors called “sexual depravity and violent tendencies,” including the overdose death of two women and the sexual assault or rape of seven victims.
David Pearce, 43, was convicted in February of the following:
two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Christy Giles and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzolathree counts of forcible rapeone count of sexual penetration by use of forceone count of sodomy by use of forceone count of rape of an unconscious womanone count of sexual penetration by foreign object
Pearce met Giles and Cabrales-Arzola at a warehouse party in East Los Angeles in November 2021. Two hours after meeting, the women accompanied him, Brandt Walter Osborn and one other man to Pearce’s Beverly Hills apartment, according to prosecutors.
At the apartment, Pearce provided the group with fentanyl and GHB. Both women overdosed, prosecutors said.
Pearce carried Giles out of the apartment about 11 hours later and carried Cabrales-Arzola about 90 minutes after that. He dropped the women off at two different local hospitals, prosecutors said.
Giles was dead when she was dropped off at the hospital. Cabrales-Arzola was resuscitated and died 11 days later, a day before her 27th birthday, prosecutors said.
“Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Pearce committed numerous drug-facilitated sexual assaults against multiple women. Seven victims testified at trial to Pearce’s sexual depravity and violent tendencies,” prosecutors said.
Osborn, 45, was charged with two counts of being an accessory after the fact, but the trial resulted in a hung jury. He is awaiting a potential retrial.
“This sentence delivers long-awaited justice for Ms. Cabrales-Arzola, Ms. Giles, and the courageous sexual assault victims who came forward and testified,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a statement. “Not only were the victims sexually assaulted, but the lives of Ms. Cabrales-Arzola and Ms. Giles were stolen in one of the most devastating ways — a fentanyl-induced sexual assault by Pearce.”
The DA’s office referred to Pearce as a “Hollywood producer,” while he described himself as an “entertainment professional,” though Pearce appears to have no production credits, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
