FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — At Thai Wok & Cafe on Shaw and Marks in northwest Fresno, the dishes and the setting are artfully crafted.
“What we wanted to bring to Fresno was authentic Thai food because out of the places we got to try here, it wasn’t fully authentic because many of them are a fusion with Lao style, in terms of taste,” says manager Wilson Luu.
Chef Ben woks – this way.
“In front of you, we have a drunken noodle,” Luu said. “We did this one in chicken with mild spice. This one is, I would say, more flavorful than the other noodle dishes that we have.”
“For the pad see ew and the drunken noodle, they’re both a wide cut noodle versus the pad thai, which is a thin cut noodle,” Luu continued.
We went with the mild spice – just in case.
When the weather cools, many customers come in looking for soup.
“This is our new item on our menu — it is a noodle soup called Thai Boat noodle soup,” Luu said. “It contains beef, meatballs, Chinese broccoli, thin rice noodles and a little bit of vegetables.”
The thin rice noodles fill you up while the soup warms you up.
It has been a popular addition.
The team is always busy making different fried rice dishes in the kitchen.
“We have the spicy basil fried rice with the protein choice of beef,” Luu said. “This is also made mildly spicy. If you like spicy things, we can go up to spicy or very spicy.”
Again, we’ll stick with the mild spice.
Luu says people enjoy a true Thai experience here.
“Come give us a try,” Luu said. “You might find something you love, and you can’t fight the addiction to come back.”
