A hundred local restaurants will convene for this year’s Outside Lands music festival in San Francisco, including classic Bay Area eateries and newcomers like “elevated pastry carts” and a chicken-based tour of the “Wings of the World.”
The three-day festival running August 7-9 in Golden Gate Park has headliners like Charli xcx, the Strokes and Death Cab for Cutie. In addition to that, attendees will be able to chow down on food and drink supplied by the likes of Jollof Kitchen – a Nigerian restaurant making its first appearance – and Meski, helmed by “Top Chef” alum Nelson German and co-owned by Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors.
Expect Dungeness crab garlic noodles, Dominican braised-chicken sambusas, Dubai-chocolate cocktails, dirty-martini olive potato chips, doughnut sundaes – and that’s just a sampling of the D’s.
Saturday’s tickets and three-day general-admission tickets for the festival are already sold out, according to the Outside Lands website. Limited tickets for Friday and Sunday were still available as of May 12.

“’Taste of the Bay Area’ at Outside Lands honors San Francisco’s culinary legacy through iconic long-standing restaurants while embracing the region’s evolving diversity with new global cuisines and one-of-a-kind festival dishes,” Tanya Kollar, the festival’s food curator, said in a statement. “Together, these newcomers capture both the history and the future of the Bay Area’s dynamic food scene.”
Aside from the normal food offerings, elevated culinary experiences are offered with VIP tickets and at the festival’s Golden Gate Club, with meals designed by the likes of Tyler Florence and James Beard finalist Melissa King. There are also three separate outposts serving boozy and zero-proof drinks: Wine Lands, Beer Lands and Cocktail Magic.
New this year are “elevated pastry carts” that will appear across the park for grab-and-go munching, like Parachute Bakery (which opened recently in the Ferry Building) with Vanilla-and-Passion Fruit Croissant Cubes and San Francisco’s Tano bakery with its Ube Diplomat Cream Salt Bread. The food incubator La Cocina is returning with a presentation called “Wings of the World,” starring three rising food entrepreneurs and their global takes on chicken wings.
