If a group of birds is a flock and a group of squirrels is a scurry, what might the collective name be for a large group of inflatables, the sorts of colorful and splashy structures found in a water park?

We would like to kindly suggest “buoyancy” as the group name or maybe a “float” is better suited for the gathering of play-ready, slide-sweet structures.

Recent years have found over 30 large inflatables dotting the “calm, waveless” waters of the bay, with slides, jungle gyms, and bouncers among the inflatables.

Both guests at the resort and visitors can book an hour-long session in the park, and making a reservation ahead of time at the Newport Dunes site is a must.

As is tradition, the water park opens with a big weekend-long bash, one that has all sorts of nostalgic vibes, music, and eats.

The fun gets going May 22, 23, and 24 with “Tunes at the Dunes,” and “Movies at the Beach” will feature films made for any age.

“Memorial Day Weekend is one of our most anticipated moments of the year,” said Phil Ravenna, General Manager of Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina.

“It’s when everything comes to life across the property, from music on the bay to families out on the water, and it really captures what the summer season at Newport Dunes is all about.”
