The Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights meet Tuesday for Game 5 of their second-round Western Conference NHL playoff series. The opening puck drop at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is at 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze NHL odds around the Ducks vs. Golden Knights odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Series: Tied 2-2

The Ducks have twice bounced back after losing the odd-numbered games in this series. In Game 4 Sunday at the Honda Center, Anaheim leveraged its first 2 power-play goals of the series and earned a 4-3 triumph over Vegas. The Ducks held Vegas to just 21 shots; they have held the Golden Knights under 23 shots in 3 of the 4 games.

The Knights head home where in these playoffs they have gone 3-2. But Anaheim has played Vegas tough this season. During the regular season, the Ducks swept 3 games from the Knights; that included a Nov. 8 triumph at T-Mobile Arena.

RW Mitch Marner of the Golden Knights currently leads the NHL in postseason scoring with 16 points. In this series he has 3 goals (a hat trick in Game 3) and 4 assists (3 in Game 4).

Ducks at Golden Knights picks and predictionsPrediction

Golden Knights 3, Ducks 2

In regular-season and postseason games combined, Vegas has won 8 of the last 11 series meetings at home.

Vegas is a good penalty-killing club, and the Knights are a rarely penalized squad in the first place. Prior to Sunday, they had killed off 26 of 27 (96.3%) penalties in these playoffs.

And Vegas is also the lean in 5-on-5 play. Anaheim has been improved in that area in this series, but the Knights do still own an edge when it comes to generating even-strength looks from danger areas of the ice. Mix in an advantage between the pipes, and the Knights continue to figure as a near-two-thirds probability for the home games in this series.

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-150) are a value in this return to home ice.

No interest; PASS.

Games 3 and 4 hit the Over and the O/U is 2-2 for the series.

Both late in the regular season and again in the opening round of the playoffs, both the Ducks and Knights have logged better expected-than-actual-goals-allowed numbers on defense. Both clubs have been stingy and the Game 3 and Game 4 analytics would say the Overs were outliers.

Vegas home games in the playoffs have 3-1-1 tilt toward the Under.

The UNDER 6.5 (-128) is the leverage side.
