WASHINGTON (TNND) — In a bombshell admission, former Arcadia, California Mayor Eileen Wang has agreed to plead guilty to being an illegal agent for the People’s Republic of China. Acting “at the direction and control” of Chinese government officials.

According to court documents, between 2020-2022, Wang worked alongside a convicted Chinese agent known as “Mike” Sun to operate a website posing as a local Chinese American news outlet; publishing content supplied by Chinese officials. “Defendant and Sun received and executed directives from PRC government officials to circulate other pro-PRC content,” part of the documents read.

They feel like that there is an open door invitation in these sanctuary cities and it’s not just China, this is North Korea, this is Russia, this is our adversaries all over the place,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin told Fox News during an interview Tuesday.

Miami GOP Committeewoman Angie Wong told The National News Desk Tuesday, while Wang’s actions are relatively small in size, imagine what the Chinese are doing beyond that.

They’re in our social media, they’re all over our platforms, they’re on our websites. These tentacles are wide ranged, and they’ve been with us for decades. It’s only now that we’re only catching up to it,” Wong said.

This admission comes, as the U.S. & China strategic rivalry heats up. The Select Committee on China recently announced a would-be spy offered a staffer $10,000 for insider information on U.S. policy. President of the Government Accountability Institute, Peter Schweizer, also told The National News Desk in March, thousands of Chinese nationals receive flight training every year at U.S. aviation schools. Strengthening China’s military and creating a national security concern.

So, they’re coming to the U.S., they’re tuition is being paid by the Chinese government, they’re getting basic flight training, they return to China and then the best pilots are going to go on and get advanced military flight training,” Schweizer said.

When it comes to Wang’s guilty plea, Wong noted the timing as well. The announcement coming on the eve of President Trump’s trip to Beijing.

According to the city of Arcadia, California, an internal review found no city finances or staff were involved. Wang also admitted in her guilty plea that she did not notify the U.S. Attorney General she was acting as an agent of the PRC. Which is required by law.
