“The Hmong Playhouse is part of Storyland’s ongoing commitment to providing affordable, imaginative and culturally rich play experiences that celebrate the diversity of the Central Valley,” stated the release.
The opening of the playhouse was made possible by funding from Measure P, a special 3/8-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2018. The measure generates approximately $37.5 million annually for city parks, recreation, trails and arts programs in Fresno.
In addition to Measure P funding, a donation from The Fresno Center, a nonprofit organization, helped make the Hmong Playhouse possible. It pays tribute to the resilience, culture and strength of the Hmong community in Fresno and the Central Valley, according to the release.
