(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento State Police Department said no credible threat was found after investigating a series of social media messages that implied a potential risk to the California State University, Sacramento campus community.
SSPD said officers were made aware of social media messages between two students on Monday, involving the possible use of illegal fireworks, posing a risk to staff and students.
According to police, there is no credible threat or immediate danger to the community, but SSPD is still working with campus and off-campus partners to ensure everyone’s safety.
“We understand situations like this can cause concern, and we encourage students, faculty, staff, and visitors to rely on official university and law enforcement communications for accurate updates,” officials with the police department said. “The safety and well-being of our campus community remains our highest priority.”
Students, faculty, and staff are asked to be aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity or safety concerns to SSPD at 916-278-6000.
