San Diego State football season-ticket sales are trending upward after three straight years of decline.

The boost is perhaps a product of last year’s nine-win season, anticipation for this year’s move to the reconstituted Pac-12 and a decrease in ticket prices.

Season-ticket sales stood at 7,162 this week, according to a school official. That’s about 1,500 ahead of last year’s total at this time. With nearly four months until the Sept. 5 season opener against Portland State, the Aztecs could approach 10,000 season-ticket sales if the pace is similar to last year over the same time period.

The Aztecs’ goal this year was to reach a 90% renewal rate. They’re close, with renewals at 87%. New season-ticket sales are at 607, nearly double last year’s new sales, with hopes of reaching 1,000.

Season-ticket sales have dropped approximately 50% from when 32,500-seat Snapdragon Stadium opened four years ago. The totals during the Snapdragon era: 15,973 in 2022; 10,718 in 2023; 8,755 in 2024; and 8,111 in 2025.

SDSU went 6-0 at home last season. The largest crowd of the year packed Snapdragon for the Aztecs’ 34-0 victory over Cal. SDSU coach Sean Lewis, speaking Monday to a gathering of fans during a Coaches Caravan event in Rancho Penasquitos, said it was the largest margin of victory in program history over a Power Four school.

“If you were there, part of that, there were five Cal Bears false start, presnap penalties,” Lewis said. “That’s what an elite home-field environment does.

“So if you haven’t already yet, talk to our friends at the ticket office. Be a friend. Tell a friend. We need to sell out Snapdragon each and every single weekend in the fall. We need to make that spot the place to be, where the fiesta starts in the fall.”

In March, Lewis and his staff visited the ticket office to make calls encouraging season-ticket renewals. In addition, the head coach has made a handful of calls each week to rally ticket holders to renew.

Efforts from SDSU’s sales staff include contacting former season-ticket holders and working through a backlog of more than 500 interest forms as well as some direct-sales initiatives.

SDSU lowered 2026 season-ticket prices 4% to 12% for most seats and as much as 35% on some seats for the six-game home schedule at Snapdragon Stadium.

Also, the “stadium excellence gift” charge has been eliminated. The charge, which helped pay for the $310 million stadium, ranged from $100 to $1,500, depending on the ticket package.

Ticket packages for the 2026 season include five price points, ranging from $175 to $775. Costs were reduced $25 on each plan. A sixth-price point — $1,200 per seat ($200 per game) — was eliminated. The seats, which are located on the west (home) side between the 25-yard lines, are now priced at $775 ($129 per game).

SDSU plays non-conference home games against Portland State (Sept. 5) and James Madison (Sept. 19). Four Pac-12 home games will be played against Texas State (Oct. 3), Fresno State (Oct. 17), Washington State (Oct. 31) and Utah State (Nov. 14).

Kickoff times for the entire 12-game schedule are expected to be announced by the end of the month.
