Rockmont Circle in Sacramento’s Natomas neighborhood is preparing for Halloween night, expecting to see crowds of over 3,000 trick-or-treaters. Some residents said they are looking forward to the crowds, while others said they’re a little anxious about what the night could bring.”It’s very busy, but it’s fun,” Elena Murray said. “It’s a lot of fun just standing out. So we put a table out and stand up here and pass out candy and just get to watch everybody walk around.”Murray said she has purchased over 3,000 pieces of candy to hand out. John Germany, who lives around the corner from Murray, said he also looks forward to the crowds. “We get a little nervous the night before Halloween. We know the crowds are coming. Getting the preparation done. We don’t want to disappoint. So, we spent a lot of time making sure all the details in order,” he said. He said there is some anxiety ahead of the holiday, especially as it falls on a Friday this year.Germany has taken steps this year to ensure that Halloween is celebrated safely. He started a GoFundMe last month to raise money for neighborhood security on Halloween night.”We now have two private security officers and two city police officers patrolling during 6 to 10:00 tomorrow night,” he said. “We want to provide any deterrence and protection we can for visitors.”The streets will be blocked off to accommodate the thousands of trick-or-treaters, some of whom are already excited and getting a sneak peek the night before Halloween.”There’s a great community feel here, and it’s rare and it takes a lot of work, but it’s worth it in the end,” Germany said. “Come, have a good time. And just remember, you know, people live here. Be respectful,” Murray added. Homeowners suggest that families with young children arrive close to 5:30 p.m., as it gets crowded after 7 p.m., and many will likely start turning off lights by 9 p.m.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel
