Evacuations are underway in Chino Hills after a fire broke out and was threatening structures on Wednesday, officials said.
The Chino Valley Fire District responded to a vehicle fire near Grand Avenue and Pleasant Hill Drive just before 7 p.m. About an hour later, the “Grand Fire” had scorched 30 acres.
According to Cal Fire, it has a moderate rate of spread with a potential to burn 200 acres.
Neighborhoods near Grand Avenue Park were under an evacuation order, including Falling Star Lane; Millstream Drive; Valley View Lane; Sweet Grass Lane. An evacuation center was set up at the Chino Hills Community Center on Peyton Drive, the city of Chino Hills said.
Chino Hills Parkway at Falling Star Lane, and Chino Hills Parkway at Country Walk were closed due to the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
