Kern County firefighters are currently fighting a vegetation fire in the Rosamond area near West Rosamond Boulevard and 50th Street West on Wednesday.

Residents in the KRN-153-B are ordered to evacuate, according to the Genasys app.

ReadyKern said an evacuation center has been set up at Hummel Hall, located at 2500 20th St. West.

Animal Services for sheltering animals is available. Officials said initial support may include supplies and guidance, with staff and volunteers deployed as additional resources become necessary.

Anyone with physical limitations and require evacuation assistance should call the Aging and Adult Services hotline at 1 (855) 264-6565.

For those with access and functional needs, special needs sheltering equipment is available at open shelter locations. This includes specialized cots, walkers, canes, and wheelchairs.

KCFD said the so-called “Desert Fire” in Rosamond is at 5 acres at this time.
