BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Seven people were arrested during an encampment sweep Wednesday along a riverbed in northwest Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The operation took place along the riverbed between Coffee Road and Highway 99, BPD said.
As of Wednesday afternoon, officials cleared 18 camps and seized one dog which was taken to the shelter.
Seven people were arrested — five of them booked for active warrants or open charges related to illegal narcotics and unlawful lodging — and two were cited and taken to hospitals for medical evaluation, according to police.
Officers are still cleaning up in the area, BPD said. The amount of trash cleared is unknown as of Wednesday.
