CUBA, Kan. (WIBW) – One person was killed in a crash Wednesday morning in Washington County in north-central Kansas, officials said.
The collision was reported at 9:34 a.m. Wednesday on US-36 highway about six miles east of Cuba.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2023 Toyota Highlander sport utility vehicle was traveling east on US-36 when it crossed the centerline and collided with a 2003 Peterbilt semitrailer.

Following the collision, the semi ran off the highway to the right, overturned and came to rest on its passenger side, partially in the roadway facing south.
The Toyota crossed back over the centerline to the right, where it ran off the road to the right and came to rest partially in the roadway facing south.
The Toyota’s driver, Marvin D. Ost, 75, of Menifee, California, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi’s driver, Brian A. Lueking, 40, of Superior, Pennsylvania, was transported to Republic County Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.
Both drivers were alone in their vehicles and were wearing their seat belts, the patrol said.
