The NFL will release the 2026 schedules for all 32 teams at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday. Here is what we know about the San Francisco 49ers’ schedule so far.
The 49ers will play each team from the NFC East and AFC West, as well as the 2025 third-place teams from the NFC North, NFC South and AFC East. San Francisco will also see its NFC West division rivals twice, once on the road (with one notable exception) and once at Levi’s Stadium, as part of its 17-game schedule.
We already know details for two 49ers games, as they will play in two of the league’s nine international contests this season: Thursday, Sept. 10 (Week 1) against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, and Sunday, Nov. 22 (Week 11) against the Minnesota Vikings in Mexico City. The Rams are the designated “home” team in Melbourne — they requested the Niners as their opponent, preferring a neutral site to a SoFi Stadium overrun by Niners fans — while the 49ers are the “home” team in Mexico City.

The 49ers went 12-5 in the 2025 regular season, overcoming a series of injuries to win a wild-card playoff game before being routed in the divisional round by the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks. As the Niners look to bounce back with a healthier 2026, they’ll have to do so while traveling more miles than any other NFL team: 38,105, according to Bill Speros of Bookies.com. The round trip to Melbourne (7,850 miles each way) accounts for more than 40 percent of that figure alone.
