Authorities are warning residents in San Dimas to be aware of hidden cameras around their homes after a string of burglaries were reported, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas station said Thursday.
According to the San Dimas Station, deputies responded to a residential burglary in the 800 block of Via Gregorio on Tuesday. Investigators found a camera inside bushes across the street from the victim’s home, where it was connected to a portable hotspot and an external battery.
Another hidden camera was discovered when a landscaper found the device while trimming vegetation at a home in the same neighborhood.
“That device consisted of a cellular phone connected to a power bank and wrapped in green camouflage tape with artificial plants attached to it,” said the LASD in its bulletin.
Authorities said these cameras are typically hidden in bushes, planters, trees or flower beds, where they blend into the landscape. Once installed, suspects use them to track victims, making it easier to commit crimes.

The LASD recommends that residents check their property for suspicious activity, trim trees and bushes, use home security cameras and keep exterior areas well lit, especially at night.
