BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The trial for former Cal State Bakersfield assistant basketball coach Kevin Mays was delayed Thursday as a judge determined the case was not ready to proceed on its scheduled date, according to Kern County court records.

A readiness hearing was held Thursday morning to decide whether Mays’ case was ready to head to trial May 26, 2026. Instead, the court set a hearing to reset the trial date for May 29, 2026.
