A 61-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday night after he collided with a semi-truck in West Oakland, authorities said.

The name of the man has not been released pending notification of relatives.

The collision happened in the area of Burma Road and Maritime Street near the Port of Oakland.

According to the initial police report, it appears the motorcyclist was riding south on Maritime Street and collided with a semi making a northbound turn onto Maritime Street. The motorcyclist hit the trailer and was pinned beneath it.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver was not injured.

Police said it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision. The crash remains under investigation, anyone with information is asked to contact Oakland traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
