A man was shot after an argument broke out near a South Los Angeles taco stand overnight, according to police.

The shooting was reported just before 2 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Holmes and Slauson Avenues, the Los Angeles Police Department said. A man walked toward a vehicle and an argument began, which then escalated to the man being shot.

First responders performed life-saving measures on the man but he ultimately died of his injuries at the scene. The gunman took off in a vehicle.

Police did not release the name of the victim, but said he’s believed to be in his 20s.

A detailed description of the suspect or the vehicle they took off in was not immediately available. That individual remains outstanding.

It’s unclear what caused the argument.
