FRESNO, CA (KSEE/KGPE) – When Bernard Berrian was a member of Fresno State Football he set the program record for the most all-purpose yards in a season (2,776), now his purpose is paying it forward to the next generation of athletes in the Central Valley.
Over the weekend, the former Bulldog Wide Receiver was a member of the Hive Youth Football Camp put on by the Sanger West Football program. Helping mentor over 100 local athletes with wisdom on the field as they participated in drills.

“One take away, I think, is just the kids mentality,” said Berrian. “Knowing and having the confidence with the men within themselves, rather that they go out there and really achieve anything they really want to, not just necessarily on the football field, but anywhere in life.”
Berrian is one of many high-profile athletes to continue the tradition of giving back in the area, hoping to help cultivate the next stars from the valley.
“It’s great to have guys like that come back to the community, especially the youth,” said Sanger West Football head coach Rob Thompson. “It’s always good to have the coaches come back. The players come back, give their knowledge back to the youth and also him being a former bulldog too. Here in the hometown, I’m a former bulldog myself, a coach at Fresno State. So it’s kind of to have those connections and get the get the community ball, but those type of guys.
