The Padres swept the Mariners in Seattle to finish off a 4-2 road trip. They have the majors’ fifth-best record despite a plus-7 run differential than ranks ninth in the majors. The Dodgers, in contrast, rank second at plus-94.

Los Angeles: The Dodgers lead the majors with a .778 OPS, rank fourth in rotation ERA (3.19) and fifth in bullpen ERA (3.24). DH Shohei Ohtani has a 1.144 OPS over the last week, followed by OF Teoscar Hernandez (1.097), OF Kyle Tucker (.964) and 3B Max Muncy (.964). Muncy and SS Mookie Betts, who has a .672 OPS over the last week, both have two homers over the last seven games. In the bullpen, LHPs Tanner Scott (1.47 ERA), Jack Dreyer (2.08 ERA) and Alex Vesia (2.76 ERA) are tied for the team lead with 20 appearances each on the season.

Dodgers RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto (3-3, 3.60 ERA) | The 27-year-old has a 5.18 ERA over his last four starts, although he’s struck out 27 over 24⅓ innings. Yamamoto has a 6.38 ERA in four regular-season starts against the Padres and a 5.63 ERA in two playoff starts, but he did get the win in Game 5 of the 2024 NLDS (5 IP, 0 ER).
Padres RHP Michael King (3-2, 2.63 ERA) | He’s allowed two runs or less in seven of his nine starts, although the Padres have only won four of his starts. King has a 2.82 ERA in 22⅓ innings in his career against the Dodgers, but he hasn’t faced them since 2024 (2-0, 3.10 ERA).

Dodgers RHP Emmet Sheehan (3-1, 4.54 ERA) | The 26-year-old has three quality starts in eight trips to the mound this season and he’s struck out 49 batters against 12 walks over 41⅔ innings. Lefties have a .921 OPS this year against Sheehan, well above what he’s allowing to righties (.525 OPS). He allowed a run in four innings in his only start against the Padres, last year.
Padres RHP Griffin Canning (0-2, 10.64 ERA) | The UCLA product has allowed 12 runs over his last six innings after debuting on May 3 with five innings of one-run ball. Canning has a 14-to-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio so far. He has a 3.64 ERA in six career starts against the Dodgers, including two last year (8⅔ IP, 3 ER).

Dodgers RHP Shohei Ohtani (3-2, 0.82 ERA) | All seven of his starts this year have been quality starts and he’s thrown seven innings in each of his last two starts (1.29 ERA). Ohtani has a 50-to-11 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 44 innings. He has a 9.00 ERA in two career starts against the Padres, allowing five runs in five innings as an Angel in 2023 and one run in one inning in his first start for the Dodgers last year.
Padres RHP Randy Vásquez (5-1, 2.68 ERA) | He’s coming off six shutout innings in Seattle on Friday, his first quality start since April 21 at Coors Field. Vásquez has not walked a batter in any of his last two starts (11 IP, 1 ER). Vásquez had a 4.05 ERA in 13⅓ innings last year against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles: LHP Blake Snell is headed for surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow. The Dodgers hope he’ll return before the end of the season. LHP Jack Dreyer (shoulder) hit the injured list on Sunday, while RHP Tyler Glasnow (back) won’t be back until the end of the month at the earliest. RHP Edwin Díaz (elbow) is on the 60-day injured list and won’t return until the second half. The Dodgers are also without UT Tommy Edman (ankle), UT Kike Hernandez (elbow) and RHPs Brock Stewart (foot), Ben Casparius (shoulder), Landon Knack (intercostal), Gavin Stone (shoulder), Jake Cousins (Tommy John), Bobby Miller (shoulder) and Evan Phillips (Tommy John).
San Diego: RHP Matt Waldron hit the injured list Friday with a right brachialis strain, which saved the Padres from having to designate him for assignment to make room for RHP Lucas Giolito. Neither C Luis Campusano (toe) nor 2B Jake Cronenworth (concussion) have clear timelines for a return. RHP Germán Márquez (forearm nerve) has not yet resumed throwing, nor has RHP Nick Pivetta (forearm). RHP Joe Musgrove (Tommy John surgery) has not resumed mound work since his spring training setback. RHPs Jhony Brito (UCL) moved his rehab work to Double-A San Antonio on Sunday.
