(FOX40.COM) — A dog was rescued from a mobile home carport fire that extended into a home Monday morning, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
Metro Fire said crews responded to reports of a residential structure fire just before 10:30 a.m. at 5040 Jackson Street in North Highlands.
Firefighters arrived to find that a fire had begun in the carport of a mobile home and extended into the inside of the home.
According to Metro Fire, crews began attempting to extinguish the fire while also searching the home to make sure there was no one inside.

The fire was put out, however, strong wind conditions played a role in how quickly the fire spread, according to crews.
No one was hurt and a dog was rescued from the home, Metro Fire said.
“A reminder to our community that fires can double in size every minute, and severe wind conditions can accelerate fire spread even faster. Always make sure your home has working smoke alarms, and once a fire starts, get out immediately and never go back inside,” officials with Metro Fire said.
