The Bakersfield Jockey Club honored three student-athletes from Taft College. Faith Hamstreet is a sophomore member of the Cougars’ Women’s Golf Team, where Jazzahlei Satele and Vienna Perier are freshmen members of the Women’s Volleyball Team.

On October 14, 2025, guest speaker Katy Barrett Baxter presented awards to all recipients. Katy, who is the Head Women’s Golf Coach at California State University Bakersfield, gave an inspirational speech about her profession and personal growth and introduced all 18 student-athletes along with their coaches for their awards. Satele and Perier were accompanied by their Head Coach Mallori Rossi. Perier was unable to stay longer for a group photo due to having a chemistry exam later that morning.

The following week, on October 21, Hamstreet was accompanied by Taft College Assistant Women’s Golf Coach Matt Olejnik. The guest speaker was Kenny Calvin, who is a local Sports Media Journalist. Calvin is also a former All-American football player who was last year inducted into the Bakersfield College Athletics Hall of Fame. There were 17 inductees that morning and Hamstreet was the only collegiate athlete in the golf division to be awarded.

Bakersfield Jockey Club is a prestigious local organization established in 1965 dedicated to supporting and recognizing the achievements of local high school and college scholar athletes.
