Later this month, Willie Nelson will release his 79th solo studio album, Dream Chaser. Arriving May 29th, the LP features “I Can’t Read Your Mind”, a new song Nelson wrote with Bob Dylan and Willie’s longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon. “I Can’t Read Your Mind” marks the first time Willie and Bob have shared songwriting credits since “Heartland” on Nelson’s 1993 album Across the Borderline. Willie and Bob recently toured together in 2024 and 2025 on Nelson’s traveling Outlaw Music Festival circuit.
“Bob Dylan and I were talking a while back about writing a song together,” Nelson told GQ last year. “He had an idea of ‘I can’t read your mind.’ We started with, ‘I can’t read your mind. The letters are too small.’ I handed that over to Buddy, and he took it and turned it into a good song. That’s pretty rare with Bob.”
