San Francisco society turned out for the Opera Guild’s annual runway show and luncheon, sporting maximum color to celebrate the arts.
Chloe King, director of fashion and lifestyle at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, introduced the presentation, which featured show-stopping looks from Chanel, Valentino, Gabriela Hearst and more. King identified four trends, the fourth being “Grownup Glamour.”
As she explained, “This, I think, is an attitude you’ll see continuing [into] Fall. The idea that getting dressed with a capital “D” is a form of resistance — it’s empowering. We all sit at home, and sometimes you need to be in sweatpants, but you feel so much better when you pull yourself together and put on a hat or a glove or your best jewelry. And so we’re really going for it this season. There’s plenty of glamour in this room. Hopefully, that will be a section of the show that you enjoy. Look for feathers, look for sequins, high drama.”
Attendees at the May 13 event, held at Neiman Marcus downtown, included SF Opera Guild President Courtney Labe, Co-Chairs Pam Preston and Teresa Medearis, Maria Castellucci Moore, Stefanie Roumeliotes, Maryam Muduroglu, Farah Makras, Aquila Farrell, Tracy Chen, Carolyn Chang, Karen Caldwell, Jennifer Walske, Betty Yu and Stephanie Block.
Guests dined on Tsar Nicoulai Caviar, rosemary-roasted chicken breast and lemon mousse, and sipped sauvignon blanc from Castellucci Napa Valley. The soiree raised funds to support the opera’s music education programs, which include bringing live opera performances to thousands of children throughout Northern California each year.
