TikTok influencer Gabbie Gonzalez, known for her lifestyle, travel and motherhood content, was arrested in Northern California last week for her alleged involvement in a murder-for-hire plot.
The targeted victim is reportedly singer Jack Avery, a former member of the boy band Why Don’t We and the father of Gonzalez’s child, who lives in Hawaii.
On Monday, May 18, her father, Francisco Gonzalez, 59, a lawyer, was arrested in Florida in connection with the same alleged plot, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
An arrest warrant cited by the sheriff’s office alleges Francisco Gonzalez offered $10,000 to have Avery killed. Investigators said the alleged plot grew out of a longstanding custody and visitation dispute between Avery and Gabriela Gonzalez, who share a young daughter.
“Evidence shows Francisco Gonzalez became deeply involved in the custody conflicts,” the warrant stated, according to the sheriff’s office.
Witnesses also told investigators that Francisco Gonzalez allegedly remarked it would be “cheaper if Avery were dead.”
The warrant cited bank records, witness statements, private investigator activity and other evidence that authorities said linked Francisco Gonzalez to the alleged operation.
The plot was reportedly thwarted after a federal agent posed as a hitman during a phone call with the older Gonzalez.
As of Tuesday, May 19, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office had not publicly released official charging documents.
