4-year-old fatally struck by vehicle in Pittsburgh’s Upper Hill

A child died after being struck by a vehicle in Pittsburgh’s Upper Hill neighborhood Monday night.Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said police were called to the 700 block of Anaheim Street around 7:30 p.m. following reports of a person who had been hit by a vehicle.Preliminary information, officials stated, indicated 4-year-old Yiason Irvin-Weathers ran into the street and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.The driver stayed on the scene and did not appear to be under the influence at the time of the incident.The child was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where they later died.”It’s a tragic, terrible story. I got a report of it yesterday when it occurred. Thoughts and prayers with the family. A child died after being struck by a vehicle in Pittsburgh’s Upper Hill neighborhood Monday night.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said police were called to the 700 block of Anaheim Street around 7:30 p.m. following reports of a person who had been hit by a vehicle.

Preliminary information, officials stated, indicated 4-year-old Yiason Irvin-Weathers ran into the street and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

The driver stayed on the scene and did not appear to be under the influence at the time of the incident.

The child was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where they later died.

“It’s a tragic, terrible story. I got a report of it yesterday when it occurred. Thoughts and prayers with the family. We don’t want any of those incidents to occur,” Mayor Corey O’Connor said Tuesday.

An investigation by Pittsburgh police is underway.
